Pictures in Glass

After years of working on site specific stained glass commissions I started ‘painting’ with glass and assembling little picture panels. Initially these were single pieces of sandblasted, handmade, antique glass where something in the pattern, movement and colour of the sheet would suggest and inspire an image which I would then sandblast.

However these small pieces have now evolved into more complex, often irregularly shaped images of landscapes, gardens, buildings, dreams. In them I use a variety of materials other than glass, including china, pebbles, agate, shells, jewellery bits, mirror, period ornaments etc. Using a variety of jewellery techniques I make plants - trees, ferns, vines, flowers etc  with wire, beads, copper sheet, and solder.
